More about the program
TÅRUP DARK SKY
Children and Youth
The Art and Astronomy Tent is an opportunity for children and teens to meet astronomers and artists. The tent provides the space for our younger guests to learn about the universe, the solar system, the night sky and light pollution, as well as plenty of room to paint, draw and solve tasks.
The Art and Astronomy Tent is open daily and welcomes children above the age of 4 years. However, parts of the program will be directed toward older children and teens. Today’s schedule will be posted on the board outside of the tent.
The program includes:
The Magic of Light and Darkness, podwalk (8+)
Radio Astronomy, workshop (12+)
What is Light Pollution?, workshop (10+)
The Bigger Body, performance (Eng.) (12+)
Food and Beverage
Food and beverages will be sold from food trucks across the festival site from the doors open and until 10 pm.
Tickets
One-day: 200 DKK
Full-festival: 500 DKK

Art Exhibition: 31 August 2023 - 10 September 2023
Art:
During the festival, Kunstrum Fyn will exhibit new works by Nordic artists who combine aesthetics, science, abstraction and speculation in order to ask questions related to the mysteries of the universe and connections between humans, nature and cosmos.
Exhibited works by Nanna Debois Buhl (DK), Dane Dodds (ZA/DK), HC Gilje (NO), Kirsti van Hoegee (NO), Solveig Lønseth (NO), Mads Borre (DK) and Maria Dorothea Schrattenholz (NO).
Music:
Tårup Dark Sky presents a number of live performances by Nordic artists who are inspired by nature, landscapes, the night sky, and the universe.
Live music by Matti Aikio (FI), Sidsel Nørgaard-Nielsen (DK), Nils Petter Molvær (DK), Regler (SE/DE/SE/DK/NO), and Katrine Ring (DK).
Performance:
Tårup Dark Sky also offers live site-specific performances by Nordic artists who seek to explore our endless universe through words, sound, motion, and images.
Live performances by Matti Aikio (FI), Mads Borre (DK), Sidsel Christensen (NO/DK), Kirsti van Hoegee (NO), and Maria Dorothea Schrattenholz (NO).
Podwalk:
The Magic of Light and Darkness is an outdoor podwalk in the beautiful nature surrounding Kunstrum Fyn. The podwalk has been developed by the local production company SANS-1, and the audience is required to use their own mobile devices in order to listen along.
The podwalk consists of two unique audio experiences: one for daytime, and one for nighttime.
The Magic of Light (30 mins.) is to be experienced before sunset. As they walk, the listener will be encouraged to interact with their surroundings; nature and the sky.
The Magic of Darkness (15 mins.) is to be experienced after sunset. This soundscape does not follow a set path, but will still engage the listener by encouraging them to interact with their surroundings.
Both experiences revolve around the most important – to us humans – star of all: the Sun and its effect on Earth and our solar system.
Lectures/Workshops/Seminar:
Nordic scientists share their research with the audience. Learn more about stardust, light pollution, radio astronomy, and the history of the night sky.
Meet Ivalu Barlach Christensen (astrophysicist, GL), Tobias Hinse (astronomer, DE/DK), Jon Larsen (stardust researcher, NO), and Morten F. Mortensen (environmental archaeologist, DK).
Conversations with Stars:
A unique chance to experience participating artists and scientists in a conversation about topics of their own choice – but always taking their point of departure in their own work and their relation to the sky.
Star Walk:
Astronomer Tobias Hinse invites the audience outside, into the darkness, to learn how to read the night sky above us. Guests are also invited to carry out their own light measurements and participate in a Citizens’ Science project about light pollution, initiated by the University of Southern Denmark.
