Katrine Ring is a Danish DJ and composer. Katrine Ring will perform her newest sound piece Det Blaaner (15 min) which is commissioned this year by The Rued Langgaard Festival in Ribe. It's an interpretation of the classical composer Rued Langaard and his take on the twilight – in Danish called the blue hour between day and evening. It's followed by a DJ-set specially made for the occasion of Tårup Dark Sky Festival in the twilight transforming into the evening.
As a DJ with more than 30 years of experience Katrine Ring has turned many musical corners: She is renowned for her funk, boogie and jazz DJ-sets. She is a part of the DJ-collectives Boogie Night and Vibezone in Copenhagen and Funkdown in Sweden. She was appointed in 2016 as the very first DJ to be part of the honourable "Blå Bog". And received the Kim Scumacher DeeJay Award in 2005.
As a composer she works with soundscapes since the debut in 2006. Part of a neoclassical duo with the classical contrabassplayer Andy Benz. Comissions by Denmarks Radio, Rungstedlundprisen, Holmboe i Horsens, Cph Harbour Parade, Verdensballetten etc. As a composer she is also part of the art world and creates site specific sound installations everal exhibitions and collaborations with ao artist Marianne Grønnow.
