Vegard Lundby Rekaa (NO)

With space as an arena, Vegard Lundby Rekaa has spent his entire adult career to explore his own and others' questions about our place in space. With a long experience in both research and teaching, he can convey even the most technical and complicated matters in a way that everyone can take part in. Vegard has a Ph.D in plasma physics from University of Oslo, Department of Physics and worked for many years at the Solar Observatory at Harestua. Vegard is Director of Astronomen an educational consulting agency established in 2020. Astronomen offers everything from courses and lectures to research and development services in astronomy, technology, data analysis and history of science. 

Vegard is also one of the initiators of Bevar mørket (Protect the Darkness), a

Norwegian organization that works to gather information about light pollution. All the work Bevar mørket stands for is organized in groups, with different themes and areas of responsibility. Everyone works to share information about light pollution and how together we can create environments that take care of the natural darkness, based on themes such as:

• Lighting in architecture and landscape

• Road lighting

• Forum for electricians and installers

• Health and natural impact of light pollution

• Star Villages and Star Cities

• National regulation of light pollution.
