Sidsel Christensen (DK)

Sidsel Christensen is a visual artist and currently Ph.D research fellow at the Department of Fine Art at KMD in Bergen, Norway. In her work she combines new media and installation, expressed through spatial, textual, and performative practices.

Throughout, Sidsel explores how interactive and relational mechanisms can shed light on the formation and reproduction of different identities. Specifically, looking at possibilities for the imagination to transform the perceived reality for a person or a group.

Currently, this approach is manifested through “performative installations”, consisting of audio and visuals where she creates an interactive ‘space’ between the artist and the audience. Initially this is a space of potential, power struggle and friction. The tension also lies between a factual language and more fictive, poetic modes. In this border-space, Sidsel wishes to give a voice to experiences that normally seem unarticulated or invisible.
